Best Gmail extensions for sales in 2026

September 15, 2026 · 9 min

“Gmail for sales” is four different jobs. Boomerang, Mixmax, Streak and KanbanMail each win one of them. Pick the job, then the extension.

Search results treat every Gmail add-on as a CRM. That is how you install a send-later tool and wonder where the pipeline went. In 2026 the honest list is short, and the products do not substitute for each other.

We make KanbanMail, so we will say so. We will also say when you should install something else. This page compares four extensions people actually live in: Boomerang, Mixmax, Streak, and KanbanMail.

The short version

Extension Job it is good at Pipeline board in Gmail Tracking / sequences Typical price
Boomerang Send later, follow-up reminders, inbox pause No Open tracking; not a sequencer Freemium
Mixmax Sequences, templates, meeting links, tracking No — sales engagement, not a board Yes — that is the product Paid seats
Streak CRM inside Gmail: boxes, pipelines, mail merge Yes — pipelines and boxes Some sending tools; merge is the headline Free tier, then paid seats
KanbanMail A Kanban of deals you choose, next to the thread Yes — full board No tracking, no sequences Free

If you need to know whether they opened the email, you are not shopping for KanbanMail. If you need to see stages, value, and a next step without leaving Gmail, tracking is the wrong aisle.

Boomerang

Boomerang is the classic “make Gmail behave.” Send later so the email lands Tuesday morning. Bounce a thread back if nobody replies. Pause the inbox when you cannot look. Those are real sales hygiene features. A lot of independent sellers should install this before they install anything with the word CRM in the title.

What it is not: a picture of the pipeline. Reminders return mail. They do not tell you the deal is worth €8,000, that legal is the blocker, or that three other deals are also waiting. If your pain is “I forget to follow up,” start here. If your pain is “I cannot see the month,” keep reading.

Boomerang also asks for Gmail access to do the job. That is expected for send-later. It is a different trust model from a board that only receives the threads you pick.

Mixmax

Mixmax is sales engagement in Gmail: sequences, snippets, calendar, tracking, sometimes a side panel that looks CRM-ish. It is the right tool when your motion is outbound volume — a list, a cadence, a meeting link. Teams that live in Mixmax are trying to create conversations, not just file the ones they already have.

It is the wrong tool when you already have too many conversations and cannot see which ones are deals. Sequences will add more mail. They will not give you columns. Mixmax can sit next to a CRM; it is not a substitute for a board if the board is what you lack.

Tracking is the cultural split. Some sellers want pixel-level awareness. Others find it noisy or off-brand. Mixmax is for the first group. Do not buy it as a “lightweight CRM” and then hunt for a Kanban that is not there.

Streak

Streak is the default Gmail CRM, and it earned that. Pipelines, boxes, snippets, mail merge: it is a deep product inside Gmail’s UI. If several people share a box, or you send one-to-many from Gmail, Streak is still the first thing to try. Our Gmail CRM piece and the Streak-alternatives article cover that job at more length.

The cost is surface area and access. You get a lot of Gmail-shaped UI, and you pay with attention (and, past the free tier, seats). If you only wanted columns and a next step, you will spend the first hour turning features off. That is not a knock. It is a misfit.

Stay on Streak if merge and shared boxes are why you opened the Chrome Web Store. Leave if you wanted a personal pipeline and a lighter permission story.

KanbanMail

KanbanMail is the pipeline one. A Kanban board inside Gmail. You pick the email; it becomes a card with company, value, close date, next step, and notes, plus a link back to the thread. Chrome extension, Gmail add-on, free. We do not scan the mailbox. We do not request gmail.modify. We do not read mail from our servers. Login is Google profile.

What we do not do: open tracking, send later, sequences, mail merge, shared team boxes. If those are the job, use Boomerang, Mixmax, or Streak. Installing us will not make a cadence. It will make stages visible for the conversations you already care about.

That is the fair comparison. We are not “better Streak.” We are a smaller board for people who kept losing deals in a messy inbox and did not want another engagement suite.

How to choose in one sitting

  1. If the problem is timing and follow-up nags, install Boomerang (or Gmail’s built-in snooze if that is enough).
  2. If the problem is outbound volume, Mixmax (or a similar sequencer) is the category. A Kanban will not replace it.
  3. If the problem is a full Gmail CRM with merge and boxes, look at Streak first.
  4. If the problem is seeing deals as columns next to the mail, with fields you type and threads you choose, that is KanbanMail.

You can combine them. Send later plus a board is a normal stack. Sequences plus a board is also normal — just know which tab is the system of record for stage. Two pipelines is how small teams lie to themselves.

Privacy is a separate axis. Engagement tools generally need more mailbox access. A board that only stores the cards you create needs less. If that matters, read what we don’t read. To put the board in Gmail, see the Chrome install walkthrough.

Want the pipeline, not the tracker?

KanbanMail is a free board inside Gmail. You choose which emails become deals.
